RESUMEN

Objetivos: El ciclo menstrual es un proceso fisiológico que sufren las mujeres durante una parte de su vida. Está constituido por cuatro fases: fase de menstruación, fase folicular, fase de ovulación y fase lútea. Al estar regulado por hormonas, el cuerpo sufre una serie de cambios, por lo que hemos pretendido analizar las variaciones de la temperatura que sufre el pie en la mujer durante el ciclo sexual.
Pacientes y métodos: Para ello hemos tomado fotografías con una cámara termográfica FLIR ONE® en cada una de las cuatro fases del ciclo sexual; hemos seleccionado cinco puntos, uno por el dorso del pie y cuatro en la zona plantar. Se ha medido la temperatura corporal en la frente en cada una de las cuatro mediciones, por el aumento de temperatura corporal que se produce durante la fase lútea.
Resultados: Según los resultados obtenidos con las mediciones termográficas tomadas en 12 mujeres, se ha observado una variación significativa en la zona del mediopié medial: durante la fase lútea aumentaría 0.9 °C la temperatura en esa zona. También se pudo observar que las mujeres usuarias de anticonceptivos orales presentaron una temperatura basal constante durante todo el ciclo, sin embargo, en las no consumidoras de anticonceptivos aumentó la temperatura basal en la fase lútea 1.38 °C.
Conclusiones: Este aumento de temperatura en el mediopié podría tener repercusión en el pie en forma de lesiones dermatológicas, o podría ser tenido en cuenta a la hora de confeccionar ropa de mejor confort térmico (calcetines, calzado).

ABSTRACT

Objectives: The menstrual cycle is a physiological process that women undergo during a part of their life. It consists of four phases: menstruation phase, follicular phase, ovulation phase and luteal phase. As it is regulated by hormones, the body undergoes a series of changes, and with this study we have tried to investigate the temperature variations that can be reflected in the foot during the menstrual cycle.
Patients and methods: To accomplish this research we have taken photographs with a FLIR ONE® thermographic camera in each of the four phases of the menstrual cycle selecting five points, one for the back of the foot and four for the plantar area. We also measured core temperature in the forehead with the aid of an infrared thermometer in each of the four measurements, as there are authors who say that there is an increase in core temperature during the luteal phase.
Results: According to the results obtained with the thermographic measurements taken in 12 women, a significant variation was observed in the medial midfoot area, during the luteal phase the temperature would increase by 0.9 °C. It was also observed that women who used oral contraceptives had a constant basal temperature throughout the cycle, however, in non-users of contraceptives, the basal temperature increased in the luteal phase 1.38 °C.
Conclusions: This rise in temperature in the midfoot could have an impact on the foot increasing the formation of dermatological lesions, or it could be taken into account when making better thermal comfort clothes (socks, footwear).
